How much does archery cost in Lithuania?

Cost is usually one of the first questions people ask before starting a new sport. Archery can be very affordable at the beginning, but like many hobbies, it can also become more expensive if you go deep. Here is the honest version.

The short answer

If you decide to continue, the real costs usually fall into a few stages.

How much does a bow cost?

The bow is usually the biggest one-time purchase. The key thing to know is this: your first bow does not need to be expensive. A simple beginner recurve setup can be more than enough for your first months of training.

🟢 Beginner setup

100–250 €

Entry-level Olympic recurve or simple traditional setup. Enough for the first serious stage of learning.

  • Basic riser
  • Starter limbs
  • Simple sight
  • Suitable for lighter draw weights

🟡 Intermediate setup

300–800 €

Better materials, more precise adjustment, and a more stable shooting feel for archers progressing into regular training and competitions.

  • Higher quality riser
  • Better limbs
  • Improved tuning
  • More reliable long-range shooting

🔴 Competition setup

1,000–3,000+ €

Built for serious competition use, where precision, consistency, and custom setup matter much more.

  • Top-level components
  • Competition stabilisers
  • Higher-end sight systems
  • Fully customised setup

Arrow costs

Arrows are a recurring expense because they wear out, get damaged, and occasionally break.

  • Aluminium arrows are often the most sensible beginner choice.
  • Carbon arrows are lighter, faster, and more expensive.
  • Top-end competition arrows are significantly more expensive and only make sense later on.

For a beginner, a simple aluminium set is usually enough. There is no reason to jump into expensive arrows too early.

Arrows in a target
Arrows are a repeating cost, but for beginners they do not need to be expensive.

Other equipment you may need

Arm guard10–30 €
Finger tab or glove10–40 €
Quiver15–50 €
Bow stringer10–20 €
Sight20–200 €
Beginner stabilisers30–150 €

Altogether, that extra gear often adds roughly 50 to 150 euros for a beginner, depending on what is included in the setup.

Should you buy online?

The main rule is simple: do not buy a bow online without coach input. A bow should fit your draw length, dominant side, and physical ability. A badly chosen bow wastes money and makes progress harder.

  • Ask your coach for recommendations.
  • Look at specialist archery retailers rather than general sports shops.
  • Used equipment can be a very smart way to start.

Is archery expensive compared with other sports?

It is not the cheapest sport in the long run, but it is also far from the most expensive. The important part is that the entry point can be very accessible, especially when your first session and first equipment use are covered by the club.

Archery competition
Higher-end equipment usually becomes relevant only once an archer starts progressing seriously.

Best low-cost path into archery

  1. Try a free beginner session first.
  2. Use club equipment for the first month or two.
  3. Only then buy a starter setup with coach guidance.
  4. Upgrade slowly, only when your skill level justifies it.

Good coaching and regular practice matter much more than expensive gear at the beginning.
