Archery training in Klaipėda
Would you like to try archery, start training regularly or return after a break? Contact Klaipėda Archers to discuss your first visit, group training or individual sessions.
From your first visit to regular training
On your first visit, the priority is to learn the range rules and try the basic movements. Regular training gives you the opportunity to develop your shooting technique step by step, while an individual session can focus on a specific goal. When choosing a format, tell us about your experience and what you would like to learn.
| What are you looking for? | What should you discuss with the club? |
|---|---|
| An introduction to archery | Let us know you are a beginner. Arrange the time, location and equipment for your first visit. |
| Regular group training | Discuss joining the training sessions, your experience and how often you would like to attend. |
| An individual session | Explain your goal: getting started, refreshing your skills or working on a particular part of the shot. Arrange a time separately. |
If you are planning a one-off session for friends or colleagues, read about group archery. An organised group visit and ongoing sports training serve different purposes.
How do you arrange your first visit?
- Get in touch. Call Laila Kuzmienė on +370 615 79909 or send a message using the contact form.
- Tell us a little about yourself. Let us know whether you have tried archery before, whether you would like to come on your own and when you could attend. If you are enquiring for a child, include their age.
- Confirm the practical details. Agree on the training location, time, equipment arrangements and price.
Where does training take place?
During the warmer months, training takes place in Smiltynė. In winter, sessions are held indoors at Mainų g. 5, Klaipėda. Contact the club to arrange your first visit before setting off. You can find ways to get in touch on the contact page.
Clothing and equipment for your first session
Choose comfortable clothes that let you raise your arms freely. Avoid loose sleeves, dangling jewellery and loose hoodie drawstrings that could catch on the bowstring. Wear closed-toe shoes with stable soles and tie back long hair. For outdoor sessions, bring water and dress for the weather.
There is no need to rush into buying a bow before you have tried the sport. World Archery recommends learning the basics and consulting a coach before choosing your first bow: this makes it easier to assess your draw length, a suitable draw weight and the right arrows. Discuss equipment for your first visit when you book.
What should you focus on at the start?
The first sessions cover safety rules, getting to know the equipment and the basics of shooting. As you learn, it is important to understand when you may shoot and approach the targets, follow the coach's instructions and build up your training gradually. Hitting the centre of the target is only one sign of progress: an increasingly consistent movement matters too.
After your first visit, discuss what you would like to work towards. For some, the aim is a regular leisure activity; for others, it is improving technique or preparing for a first competition. To take the first step, simply tell us your goal and arrange a visit.
Frequently asked questions
Can I get in touch if I have never tried archery?
Yes. When you contact us, let us know that this will be your first visit. A good place to start is learning the safety rules, finding suitable equipment and practising the basic movements with a coach.
How do I arrange my first training session?
Call Laila Kuzmienė on +370 615 79909 or use the contact form. Tell us about your experience, the type of training you are interested in and when you can attend. Confirm the location, equipment arrangements and price before your visit.
Should I buy a bow before my first session?
It is best to learn the basics and work with a coach to find out which equipment suits you before buying a bow. When arranging your first visit, ask about the bow, arrows and protective equipment you will need.
What should I wear to an archery session?
Wear comfortable clothes that allow you to move freely, without loose sleeves or dangling drawstrings, and closed-toe shoes. Tie back long hair. For outdoor sessions, bring water and dress for the weather.
What is the difference between group training and an individual session?
Group training suits people looking for regular practice alongside other archers. The aim of an individual session is discussed separately: it might be an introduction to archery, a return after a break or help with a specific aspect of technique. Contact the club to discuss which format suits you.
